Imagine a world without limitations, without boundaries, without anything to hold you back...

Yeah, that's basically like an endless chasm. Like that? Like falling FOREVER? Yeah, sucks don't it? Would you like to RP in a place like that? No, you wouldn't. Why? Because all you'd ever RP is:
"'AHHHHHHHHHHHH!' Trebonius screamed for like the hundreth time. It didn't help but there wasn’t a whole lot else to do as he hurtled downwards until he starved.”

Verre Zon
We’re solid.

It's the Falling Man logo from Myst! Verre Zon is colliding with my fandom!

My concern about this is that this is a copyrighted image, I'm fairly sure I've mentioned this board to someone who works at the company holding the copyright, and I highly doubt we can get permission to use it.

I know it's just a silhouette, but it's a specific silhouette that's a very recognizable image to people associated with the game. This is for all practical purposes the franchise logo for a game that was the top best seller for ten years.

I can try for permission-- I've had to request assets from Cyan Worlds before, so I know the process-- but I'm not sure they're going to allow the Falling Man logo to be used for things other than Myst.

Otherwise, maybe we can find something similar that either isn't under copyright, or at the very least isn't copyrighted by someone with connections to a board member? ;)

I reckon it would be pretty easy to make a 'falling' type picture, especially in silhouette... if no one posts back here I might have a go tomorrow.

I think it's hilarious either way, and Quinn, I'd love to see what you can come up with. Would you be willing to try a Jurassic Pangea while you're at it?..

This is an addition you can put on the bottom of the ad if you like (of course change the name and affiliation to yours :D ):

If you would like some general info before taking a gander, here's a few tidbits:

~We attempted to avoid as many stereotypes as possible while creating the world and setting
~The board is fully collaborative, which means anyone may contribute ideas, suggestions or even setting canon. We have an entire forum dedicated to hearing out your ideas and reviewing them to be included in the setting.
~I say "we" because of said collaboration; this board is a collective effort and product. It is not "mine," it is "ours."

Also, I found that we might want to take out the "center" feature, since boards without it won't convert that code.

Here's a copy/paste BBcode version of the ad for anyone who would like to post it somewhere:

Text-only version that our fabulous Dee wrote up:

Yeah, that's basically like an endless chasm. Like that? Like falling FOREVER? Yeah, sucks don't it? Would you like to RP in a place like that? No, you wouldn't. Why? Because all you'd ever RP is:
"'AHHHHHHHHHHHH!' Trebonius screamed for like the hundredth time. It didn't help but there wasn’t a whole lot else to do as he hurtled downwards until he starved.”

Verre Zon on the other hand has boundaries, nice and solid boundaries made of stone, bricks and whatever the magical fantasy equivalent of cement is. (Cy’mente?)
Verre Zon is also solid, with over 90% of all domiciles deemed "Very unlikely to collapse soon". (The other 10% are owned by poor people, don't worry about it.)
Simply put, Verre Zon is not a chasm.
Verre Zon is a city.

It has streets, it has buildings, it has people, it has technology, it has magic and because of all this it has problems. (Not with the streets or buildings though, as I've previously mentioned they are top notch quality.) Within the city of Verre Zon there is both technology and magic and these two forces are strange bedfellows (Magic hogs the bed sheets). Each side has its own supporters, each side has its zealots, but at the same time few would dare upset the balance of the city because both sides know what the city means.

The city means money.

Verre Zon exists in an odd world, a world which comes dangerously close to having no limitations or boundaries but stops short of going all doom chasm. There are places in the world so saturated in magic that they are chaotic maelstroms but then there are also barren wastelands completely bereft of magic. Since Verre Zon exists between such extremes it can avail of both technology and magic and thusly it acts as a trading hub for several of the surrounding regions. Trade is the lifeblood of the city and because of this Verre Zon welcomes all (So long as they have money to spend)

Verre Zon is safe, Verre Zon is comfortable and Verre Zon would very much like to stay that way, thank you very much. Unfortunately Verre Zon exists in a world fraught with unimaginable danger, incomprehensible horrors and angry people with swords/guns/the ability to set you on fire by thinking it so Verre Zon might not get it's wish.a

A Medieval Fantasy roleplay site with a South American twist, Verre Zon mixes traditional fantasy with aspects of Aztec, Incan and Mayan culture. A lone outpost at the edge of the world, the city of Verre Zon is an attempt by the powers of the Old World to gain a foothold in a new and rich land. Mages, mercenaries, elves, orcs and many others come to the city in the hopes of making their fortune but unfortunately the natives of the land have other ideas. The fierce Ameyatl warriors and their strange gods see the city of Verre Zon and all who dwell there as intruders, tolerated for now but still unwelcome. There have only been minor skirmishes so far but many believe that Verre Zon and the Ameyatl cannot coexist, that it is only a matter of time before full scale war breaks out.

That is assuming the city doesn’t tear itself apart first.

The established nations of Erde, those lands that lie back beyond the great divide within the realms of the Old World, have a great deal of interest in the affairs of Verre Zon. The city is independent, few dispute that, but many seek influence within the city for their own gain. Therein lies the problem as Verre Zon is not simply an unwilling pawn in a struggle between great empires but rather it is a pawn in a struggle between every nation, every race and practically every person in the world. Old loyalties, allegiances and grudges often persist in a city inhabited by every creature and culture known and this can cause problems

One could argue that Verre Zon is not a very safe place to be but it’s unlikely you’d find anyone to listen to that argument. For all its flaws and for all the dangers that lurk in its shadows the fact is you can make an awful lot of money in Verre Zon and people like money. Those who once fought for opposing nations now stand side by side in battle against the Ameyatl, races once feared for their barbarity are now highly sought as labourers and great industrial complexes smelt metal outside the city while mages use their power to shape and manipulate the land around them. Greed is keeping the city relatively stable and yet there are still many who claim that Verre Zon stands at the precipice and one slight incident could plunge the city into chaos.

Or maybe not. Everyone in the city could just become very rich and nothing bad would happen to anyone ever. I guess you won't know, and by extension you won't become terrifically rich, unless you drop by and give it a look! Click here and visit scenic Verre Zon!
